Opinion: Networking and Business – Does Twitter Really Matter?

Networking and business – does Twitter really matter? Here’s the answer.

In April 2014 the BBC’s adaptation of ‪Jamaica Inn‬ attracted complaints and criticism for its sound and mumbling issues.

On 22/4 I tweeted ‘BBC had 100+ complaints about Jamaica Inn sound and dialogue. Apparently blaming technical issues, when the problem is acting and directing … ‘

Twelve minutes later a researcher from BBC Radio Five Live phoned to invite me to join a live radio interview to discuss the controversy, as an actor and teacher of public speaking skills.

The researcher had been looking for tweets on the subject and on finding mine was instantly able to check out my background and find my phone number on my website.

So if you tweet, remember that you never know who might be paying attention. Your tweet and what it leads them to find will influence your reputation and can lead to valuable business and networking opportunities.

What does your Twitter feed say about you? PH
